The bunk beds have gaps between parts of the upper bunk that could allow a child’s body to pass through but not a child’s head. This poses an entrapment or strangulation hazard to children and exceeds the space allowed by the federal bunk bed safety standard.

Bunk bed recalls are issued by the United Sates Government for cases involving multiple failures of particular product. The idea is to introduce to the public an awareness for an existing product that they may own and for the manufacturer to correct it's defect for future product orders.

U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled Jubee Bunk Beds, a Danish manufactured bed which has about 500 units distributed in the US. The bunks unfortunately have wooden side slats that were not installed properly, causing the collapse of the upper bunk. While there have been no serious injuries on record, a total of seven incidents have been reported.
